Target audience

Target audience

Main target audience: what to expect:

My music genre is pop, my recent research of pop music showed that the main target audience of pop music in general is teenagers and young teenagers about 8-17 years old. Most pop magazines are also aimed at that age audience so i am going to follow that and have my target audience as young teenagers aged 13-17 so the audience will be a bit older so i can target it at people my own age to make it easier to design and relate to. By going onto the magazines websites you can also see what the target audience by the way the website is laid out.

I can see from this magazine's website the target audience is young teenagers. I can see this from the colours used on the page in the header. blue, pink, yellow and green are all bright, eye catching colours and will appeal to a younger audience as well as making it clear that the target audience is a younger audience. Also the pictures used they are all pictures of young artists/bands that young teenagers will be interested in.

This magazine's website appears to be more mature than the other website and I can see that this magazine is aimed at an older audience perhaps older teenagers maybe 16+ although the genre is still pop the target audience is just older than other pop magazines. I can tell the magazine is pop from the website alone because of the pictures used. The artists on the home page are all pop artists. Also although there is a lot less colour on this page there is still some bright colours, in the logo for example. Showing it is a more mature pop magazine for a slightly older audience. This is sort of what I want my magazine to be like, I want a slightly older audience simply so I can relate to it more and it will be slightly easier if I aim it for people of my own age.
